Hell on Wheels Similar Shows: Best Western TV Series to Watch Now!

Alright, so the other day I was bummed out because I finished “Hell on Wheels” – again. Seriously, that show is addictive. But what to watch next? I needed something with that same gritty, historical vibe, you know? So I started digging.

My Search Begins

First, I just straight-up googled “shows like Hell on Wheels.” Pretty basic, I know, but you gotta start somewhere. That gave me a bunch of lists, which was a good jumping-off point.

  • “Deadwood” popped up a lot.
  • “Godless” was another one that seemed promising.
  • “The Son”.

Narrowing It Down

I read through some descriptions and forum threads. I wanted something that wasn’t just Western. The whole post-Civil War, building-of-the-railroad thing was a big part of what I loved about “Hell on Wheels.”

Checked out some trailers on that video site. You know the one. “Godless” looked pretty cool, very cinematic, but maybe a little too polished? “Deadwood,” on the other hand, looked raw and intense. I’ve heard people rave about it for years.

“The Son”, that looked interesting too, a different time period, that peeked my interest, so I added it to my list.

Making a Choice (and a Backup Plan)

After all that searching and watching, I decided to give “Deadwood” a shot first. It seemed like the closest in terms of overall feel. Plus, the language! Everyone says it’s, uh, colorful.

And hey, if it’s not quite my cup of tea, I added “Godless” and “The Son” to my “watch later” list. Just in case. Gotta have options, right? So far, so good. But I know there are many other TV shows out there!
