Alright, so I got sucked into this whole Boston Strangler thing on Hulu. The movie was pretty intense, and it got me thinking – what other flicks out there give off that same vibe? You know, that gritty, true-crime, suspenseful feeling. So I did a little digging, you know, hit the web like we all do. Here’s what I got into:
My Deep Dive into Similar Movies
First, I started by just plain Googling “movies like Boston Strangler.” Simple, right? I got a bunch of lists, some helpful, some not so much. I ignored the ones that just seemed like random crime movies.
I made a list in my notebook. Old school, I know, but it helps me keep track. I jotted down anything that seemed remotely promising. Then, I started crossing stuff off.

- Zodiac– It was a no * themes and it’s also based on a true story.
- Memories of Murder– I found out that it is a south korean film directed by Bong Joon-ho.
- Prisoners– This one kept popping up, a few people told me about it in some forums.
Then I went to Reddit. I figured real people would have better suggestions than some random website. I checked out a few subreddits, like r/moviesuggestions and r/truecrime. I found some interesting discussions, and people were throwing out names I hadn’t seen on those other lists.
I added a few more to my notebook, based on what people were saying. I looked for movies that weren’t just about serial killers, but also had that investigative journalism angle, like the Boston Strangler movie.
After that, I cross checked every thing I could find and filter out the ones I want.
It was a fun little rabbit hole to go down. Made me appreciate how many good (and some not-so-good) movies are out there. Now, I’ve got my weekend movie marathon all planned out. If you are into this, hope it help!
