Okay, so I’ve been getting really into surfing lately. It’s awesome! But, you know, sometimes the waves just aren’t cooperating, or I’m stuck inside. That’s when I started looking for some good surf movies to watch, and I figured Netflix would be a good place to start. So, I wanted to share my little adventure of finding the best surfing movies on Netflix.
First thing I did was just type “surfing” into the Netflix search bar. Pretty basic, right? I got a bunch of results, some documentaries, some dramas with surfing in them, and a few that looked like they were just straight-up surf flicks. I made a list on my phone of the ones that caught my eye, just based on the little thumbnails and the short descriptions.
Next, I started watching the trailers. Gotta see those waves in action, you know? Some of them looked pretty cool, with some awesome shots of people riding these massive waves. Others, not so much. The trailers really helped me narrow down my list. I’m all about the big wave action, not so much the drama stuff.
Then, I started watching the movies themselves, of course! I’d usually give each one about 15-20 minutes to see if it hooked me. Some of them were great right from the start, with some killer surfing footage and a cool vibe. Others were kind of slow, or the surfing just wasn’t that impressive. No time for that!
After I watched the movies, I wanted to compare. I got different feelings from the movies, so I started comparing the movies to each other.
- Visuals: Some movies had breathtaking shots of the ocean and the waves. The camera work was just insane, making you feel like you were right there on the board.
- Surfing Skills: I wanted to see some real talent, not just people paddling around. I looked for movies that showcased some seriously skilled surfers doing crazy tricks and riding huge waves.
- Storyline: Even though I was mostly in it for the surfing, a good story always helps. Some documentaries had really interesting stories about the history of surfing or the lives of professional surfers.
- Overall Vibe: Some movies just had a cool, laid-back vibe that made you want to grab your board and head to the beach. Others were a bit too serious or dramatic for my taste.
After watching a bunch of movies and comparing them, I finally came up with my own personal list of the best surfing movies on Netflix. I’m talking about the ones that made me want to paddle out right then and there, even though I was sitting on my couch! They showed some real deal surfing, had some cool music and were just a good time overall. I watched them all! It’s totally my own opinion, but hey, maybe it’ll give you some ideas for your next movie night.
Finding these movies wasn’t just about watching something on a screen. It actually got me even more stoked about surfing. It’s like, these movies inspired me to get out there and improve my own skills, even if I’m nowhere near as good as the pros. But that’s part of the fun, right? Learning and getting better.
