Okay, so I’ve been on this kick lately, right? Trying to find movies that give me the same kind of vibe as “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” That movie is just gold – hilarious, a bit awkward, and it’s got that whole tropical getaway thing going on. So, I started digging around, trying to find similar flicks.
Started with the Obvious
First, I checked out other movies with the same actors. Jason Segel, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis – the whole gang. I watched “Bad Moms” and “Bad Moms 2” and Mila Kunis was great in them. And then I watched “The Five-Year Engagement” and “Get Him to the Greek” because of Jason Segel and Russell Brand. They weren’t exactly the same, but they had some funny moments. They kind of scratched that itch, but I still wanted more.
Went a Little Deeper
Then, I started looking at movies with similar plots. You know, breakups, vacations gone wrong, that kind of stuff. I stumbled upon “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.” That one was pretty wild and had some laugh-out-loud scenes. Also watched “The Hangover”, which was just crazy, but a good kind of crazy.
I also tried some rom-coms set in exotic locations, thinking maybe that was part of the appeal. I watched “Couples Retreat” and “Just Go With It.” They were okay, had their moments, but still not quite what I was looking for.
Finally Hit the Jackpot
I finally figured out the secret sauce! I started looking for movies from the same people who made “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. I found some movies written or produced by the same people, like “Bridesmaids”. It was hilarious, and it definitely had a similar comedic style. Then, I watched “Neighbors” and “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising”. They weren’t exactly like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” but they had that same kind of humor that I was craving.
The Results Are In
After all that searching, I can say I found some movies that are at least in the same ballpark as “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.”
- Bridesmaids – Hilarious, and it’s got that awkward, over-the-top humor.
- Neighbors & Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising – Not exactly the same, but they definitely made me laugh.
- Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates – Wild and funny, definitely worth a watch.
- The Five-Year Engagement & Get Him to the Greek – Some good laughs in these, especially if you like Jason Segel and Russell Brand.
So, yeah, it was a bit of a journey, but I’m pretty happy with what I found. It’s not easy to find movies that perfectly match the vibe of a favorite, but I think I got pretty close! If you are into “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” like me, you should give them a shot.
