Alright, so the other day, I got this itch to find some movies that gave me the same vibes as “The Spiderwick Chronicles.” You know, that 2008 flick with all the fantastical creatures and whatnot? I love that stuff, and I figured there had to be more movies out there like it.
I started by hitting up all the usual places. I went to websites that has lists of every actor and director’s movies, but that was kind of a dead end since I was looking for movies based on feel, not just who was in them. The thing is, these places are great if you’re chasing down an actor’s entire career, but not so much for finding movies with a similar vibe.
Then, I went to the big streaming sites. I mean, everybody’s got them, right? I tried to find a ‘similar movies’ feature, but it seemed like this feature wasn’t available, or maybe I just couldn’t find it. Either way, no luck there.
So, I did what any sensible person would do – I asked the internet directly. I typed in something like, “Movies similar to The Spiderwick Chronicles?” into a search engine and boom, I got some results. There were a few forums and lists where people were talking about the same thing.
Here’s what I came up with:
- The House with a Clock in Its Walls – This one kept popping up. Apparently, it’s got a similar kind of magical, spooky thing going on.
I saw some folks saying that some movies were even better than the books they were based on, more adventurous and realistic. I guess that’s subjective, but it made me curious.
