So, I saw this episode of Shark Tank, you know, the one where they pitch business ideas? And there was this couple, Anastasia and Arya, talking about their frozen food thing, Wellingtons. They make, like, fancy beef Wellington that you just heat up at home.
I got curious. I mean, beef Wellington is a pain to make from scratch. You gotta get the pastry right, the meat can’t be overcooked, and don’t even get me started on the mushroom thing. If someone could make it easy, that’s something, right?
So, I decided to try it out. I found their website, and yeah, they got a whole bunch of different kinds, not just beef. Chicken, salmon, even a veggie one. I ordered a classic beef one. I figured I should start with the original.
It arrived a few days later, packed in dry ice, still frozen solid. The instructions were pretty simple. Just thaw it, then bake it for a bit. I followed the steps, and guess what? It actually worked!
- Thawed it in the fridge overnight.
- Preheated the oven like they said.
- Brushed it with a little egg wash ’cause I saw someone do that on a cooking show once.
- Baked it for about 35 minutes.
The pastry came out all golden and flaky. And when I cut into it, the meat was still pink in the middle, just like it’s supposed to be. It tasted pretty darn good, too! I mean, it’s not quite the same as if you made it yourself, but for a frozen meal, it’s way up there.
My Thoughts
It’s definitely convenient. No shopping for a million ingredients, no messing around with pastry dough. And it’s not super expensive, either. I think it was, like, 40 bucks for the one I got? That’s not bad for a special dinner.
I’m thinking I might try some of their other flavors. The salmon one sounds interesting. Maybe for a date night or something. Overall, I’d say it’s worth a try if you like beef Wellington but don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen. It’s a pretty neat idea, and it actually delivers on the promise.
