Alright, so, today I messed around with something called “tiana dvc preview”. I’d heard some buzz about it and figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, I’ve got time, you know?
First things first, I had to get this thing set up. It wasn’t too bad. You know those things that sound super complicated but really aren’t? This was one of those. Just followed some instructions, typed in a few commands in that black screen with the blinking cursor. I remember some “%” signs that got mixed up and turned into “%25”, like, what’s that about? And, for like a minute or two each hour, things just seemed to hang. Classic, right?
After getting it running, I started playing around with it. Moved some files here, some there. Pretended I was doing some super important data science work. Kind of like, I was organizing my stuff for everyone to see, but not really. More for me to see what it would look like if I did share it.
Then, I tried to see what others would see if they looked at my stuff. This is the “preview” part, I guess. It’s like publishing a book, but just showing it to yourself first. What did I learn? Well, it wasn’t anything life-changing, but it was neat. You can see how everything fits together before anyone else sees it. Just for me I suppose.
One weird thing was that when I was putting some names or words in, and when I typed certain characters, it gave me back some strange errors like “ERROR%253A%2BThe%2Brequest%2Bcould%2Bnot%2Bbe%2Bsatisfied”. I have no idea what that was about.
The Cool Part
The cool part? I didn’t have to put my stuff out there for the whole world to see right away. I could just see it myself first, make sure it all made sense. Kind of like writing a blog post and then reading it over a bunch of times before you hit “publish”. I like to keep it low key sometimes.
- No Pressure: I could mess around with it all I wanted, no pressure to make it perfect right away.
- Just for Me: It was like a little secret project, just for my eyes only.
- Practice Makes Perfect: I could try out different things and see what worked best.
