Okay, so I’ve been a huge fan of “Law & Order: SVU” for like, forever. I mean, who hasn’t binge-watched that show at some point, right? But lately, I’ve been craving something similar, but also kinda new. So I started digging around to find shows that are like “Law & Order: SVU,” and let me tell you, it was a bit of a mission.
First off, I started hitting up the usual spots like Netflix and other streaming platforms. I typed in “Law & Order: SVU” just to see what would pop up in the “you might also like” section. Not gonna lie, a bunch of random stuff came up, but I did see a couple of promising titles. I made a list of those.
Then, I started thinking about what exactly I love about SVU. It’s the gritty, realistic feel, you know? The way they dive into those tough cases, and the characters are just so compelling. So I started looking up keywords like “crime drama,” “police procedural,” and “murder investigation.” I jotted down any shows that sounded interesting based on the descriptions.
I also went down a bit of a rabbit hole exploring other shows in the “Law & Order” universe. I mean, there’s gotta be some overlap, right? I stumbled upon “Law & Order: True Crime” which was pretty good. It was more about a specific case and played out like a mini-series, which was a nice change of pace.
After that, I decided to check out some forums and online communities dedicated to TV shows. I figured, who better to ask than fellow TV junkies? I posted my question there, basically asking for recommendations for shows like “Law & Order: SVU.” People were pretty helpful and suggested a bunch of shows I hadn’t even heard of. One that caught my eye was “True Detective,” which people kept comparing to “SVU,” but with a more, I guess you could say, ‘artsy’ vibe.
My Watchlist of Shows Similar to “Law & Order: SVU”
After all that searching, here’s what I ended up with:
- True Detective: I watched a few episodes, and wow, it’s intense. Definitely darker than “SVU,” but the acting is top-notch, and the storylines are super complex.
- Law & Order: True Crime: Like I said before, this one is pretty good. It’s got that “Law & Order” feel, but it’s focused on real-life cases, which is kinda cool.
- The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story: This one was recommended a few times, so I’m curious to check it out. It seems like it has that same kind of true-crime, investigative feel.
So yeah, that’s my journey so far. It took some time and effort, but I’m feeling pretty good about my list. I’m excited to dive into these shows and see if they can fill that “SVU”-shaped hole in my heart. I’ll probably update this post later after I’ve watched more. Maybe I’ll even discover some more hidden gems along the way!
