Okay, so the other day I was thinking, I really enjoyed “How to Be Single,” and I wanted to find some more movies like that. You know, something fun, a bit about relationships, maybe finding yourself, that kind of thing. So I started digging around.
First, I just went straight to my usual sources, like Netflix and Amazon, to see what they had. I typed in “How to Be Single” and looked for a “similar movies” section. They had some suggestions, but nothing really jumped out at me. They were pretty generic, not exactly what I was looking for.
Then I remembered this site called Letterboxd. It’s pretty cool because it’s all about movies, and people share their opinions and make lists. I figured maybe someone there had the same question as me. And guess what? I found a list of 71 films that someone said were similar to “How to Be Single.” 71! That’s a lot. So I started going through them, one by one.
There were some interesting titles, but the descriptions didn’t always match what I had in mind. I also checked out this other site called Filmaffinity, which does movie recommendations. It’s kind of like a social network for movie lovers. You can vote on movies and see what other people with similar tastes liked. That seemed promising.
I found a few movies that sounded kind of similar like “Someone Great” on Netflix. It is about a girl who is going through a break up and relies on her friends to get through it, kind of like “How to Be Single.” There is also “Someone Like You” which came out in 2001. It is an older movie, but it is about a woman who is going through a rough break up and learns about herself through that time.
I also thought about what I really liked about “How to Be Single.” It’s a comedy, but it also has some serious moments about relationships and figuring out who you are. So I started looking into other comedy subgenres, like parody films. I didn’t really find any parody films that were similar to the movie. But, I did come across “Something Borrowed” which is about two friends who go through a rough patch after one of them falls for the other one’s fiance. So that is similar to “How to Be Single” because it’s all about a messed up friendship situation.
My Findings
After all that searching, I ended up with a few movies that I think are worth checking out if you liked “How to Be Single”.
- Someone Great (2019) – A woman goes through a rough break up and relies on her friends to get through it.
- The Pretty One (2013) – A case of mistaken identity and new starts.
- Someone Like You (2001) – A woman learns about herself after going through a break up.
- Something Borrowed (2011) – Friendships are tested and secrets come to the surface when terminally single Rachel falls for Dex, her best friend Darcy’s fiancé.
It wasn’t a perfect match for what I was looking for but it was pretty close. But hey, at least I found some new movies to watch! It’s all about the journey, right? And who knows, maybe I’ll discover some new favorites along the way. That’s the fun of exploring movies, you never know what you’ll find.
