Today, I’m diving into something that really caught my eye a while back – have you guys heard of the show “Brand New Cherry Flavor”? I got sucked into it and it was a wild ride, to say the least. So, I wanted to find more shows like that one and share what I did.
I started by looking up what the heck “Brand New Cherry Flavor” actually meant. Turns out, someone online said it’s like a jab at newbies in Hollywood. That was kind of a cool starting point. I jumped on my computer and started browsing through Reddit first, because why not? Found a subreddit dedicated to the show, so I spent a good amount of time reading what people were saying. Mostly things like it’s a wild show with some messed up scenes. Stuff like that.
Then, I watched a TikTok video where someone was talking about the most messed-up sex scene they ever saw in the show. Then it became a challenge to watch the show? Well, people sure love to challenge each other. I also tried to find other similar shows by searching for lists online. I found some comprehensive lists of drama shows, which was pretty helpful.
I made a list of a few other shows on Netflix that people mentioned were kind of similar to “Brand New Cherry Flavor,” like “The OA,” “Dark,” “Archive 81,” and “The Midnight Gospel.” I have watched the anime “Death Note” before, which many people said was one of the greatest animes. I also noticed many people talking about how this show seems to have a fresh start, and I think so too.
So I decided to watch these shows to see if they gave off the same vibe.
- “The OA”: Started with this one. It’s got that mysterious, kinda supernatural feel that I dug from “Brand New Cherry Flavor.” Watched a couple of episodes and thought, “Yeah, this is the kind of weird I was looking for.”
- “Dark”: This one’s a bit more of a slow burn, all about time travel and dark secrets in a small town. Took me a bit to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked. Not exactly the same as “Brand New Cherry Flavor,” but it definitely kept me guessing.
- “Archive 81”: Found this one after digging a bit more. It’s got that horror/mystery thing going on, with old tapes and a creepy cult. I liked this one a lot – it had that unsettling feeling that “Brand New Cherry Flavor” did so well.
- “The Midnight Gospel”: Okay, this one’s an animated series and it’s… out there. It’s got these deep, philosophical chats set against crazy, colorful, sometimes messed up visuals. It’s not horror, but it’s definitely weird and thought-provoking, so I threw it in the mix.
After going through these, I felt like I had a pretty good sense of what else is out there that fans of “Brand New Cherry Flavor” might enjoy. I mean, it’s not every day you stumble upon a show that’s so bizarre and captivating at the same time, right?
Anyway, I just wanted to share my little adventure in TV land. If you’re into shows that are a bit off the beaten path, definitely check out “Brand New Cherry Flavor” and the others I mentioned. And if you’ve got any other suggestions, hit me up! I’m always down for another deep dive into the weird and wonderful world of TV shows.
