Alright, so the other day I was watching this flick, “Greenland,” right? Pretty intense, end-of-the-world type stuff. Got me thinking, what other movies out there give you that same kind of thrill? So, I started digging around, looking for films with a similar vibe.
First, I made a list of disaster movies. You know, the ones where everything goes haywire. I remembered a few off the top of my head like “Twister” and “Volcano”. Then, I started writing down whatever came to mind – “Dante’s Peak”, “Day After Tomorrow”.
After that, I thought about more modern ones, I wrote “San Andreas” on my list, the one with The Rock. That’s a solid disaster flick. And I remembered, there’s a sequel coming for “Greenland”! But the movie distribution rights were seventy-five million dollars, oh my god! That is a lot of money.
Then, something totally different popped into my head. I was thinking about survival movies, not just disasters. This movie “Against the Ice”, came to mind. This movie is a polar expedition across the frozen tundra of Northeastern Greenland, crazy, right? I don’t know why I thought of it. Not a disaster movie, but it definitely has that survival element.
Then I looked up some reviews for “Greenland”, just to see what other people were saying. I found this one review that mentioned “Silent Night” I think, it was a Christmas comedy and also a disaster movie, what a mix right? I added it to my list, you never know.
So, after all that, I ended up with this list:
- Daylight
- Twister
- Dante’s Peak
- Day After Tomorrow
- Volcano
- San Andreas
- Silent Night
It’s not a huge list, but it’s a good start. I figure I’ll start with “San Andreas” and work my way through. Who knows, maybe I’ll find some other gems along the way. It is a good way to find similar movies I guess.
