You know, I watched that The Bone Collector film the other day. My old eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I sure do like a good mystery. Got me thinking, there must be other films like The Bone Collector. That one, with the smart fella in the bed and the pretty lady cop, it was a real nail-biter. If you like Bone Collector film you must read this.
So, I got to looking around, and wouldn’t you know it, there are a whole bunch of movies that are kinda like it. These old bones of mine might not get out much, but I sure can watch a lot of pictures. Some is good, some is not so good. But if you liked that The Bone Collector, here’s what I reckon you might enjoy.
- Taking Lives. This one about some killer. He’s up in Canada, taking on other folks’ lives. Real creepy, like. He kills people and then pretends to be them. That just ain’t right. It’s all twisty-turny, like a snake in the grass.
- That Shutter Island. That one messed with my head, I tell ya. It’s all about a crazy place on an island. You don’t know what’s real and what ain’t. Reminds me of old Mrs. Henderson down the road, bless her heart. She sees things that ain’t there, too. If you like mystery, this is good.
- There was this one called Identity. Lots of folks stuck in a motel, and they start dropping like flies. Nobody knows who’s doing it. It’s like one of them whodunits, you know? Keeps you guessing till the very end. And that end, whoo-wee, it’s a doozy!
Oh, and Secret Window. That one has a writer fella, and he’s all alone in a cabin. Then things get strange, real strange. People say he is crazy. It’s kinda spooky, makes the hair on your arms stand up. This one is a good one for films like the bone collector.
Then there’s Gone Girl. Now that one, that’s a story about a marriage gone bad. Real bad. The wife disappears, and everyone thinks the husband did it. But things ain’t always what they seem, are they? Lots of secrets in that one, like a can of worms you don’t wanna open. It is like Bone Collector book vs movie, both good but different.
The Whole Truth, that’s another one. It’s all about lawyers and courtrooms and such. I don’t understand all that legal mumbo-jumbo, but it’s about a boy who might have killed his daddy. Lots of lying going on in that one. Reminds me of the time my cousin Billy tried to sell me a three-legged cow. Said it was special.
I remember one time, back when I was a young’un, we had a mystery in our town. Old Man Hemlock’s prize-winning pig went missing. Everyone was suspecting everyone else. Turns out, it was just hiding in the woods, scared of a thunderstorm. These movies, they remind me of that, all full of suspicion and secrets.
There is another one, Death Note, about some book. You write a name in it and people die. That sounds like some devil’s work, don’t you think. Not for me, but some folks like those kinds of movies.
And then this The Purge. Now that one’s just plain crazy. People can do whatever they want for 12 hours, even killin’. It’s a scary thought, ain’t it? I wouldn’t want to live in a place like that. I like peace and quiet, not all that violence.
Some people don’t like these kinds of movies. Too scary, too much killing, they say. Critics reviews the bone collector. They say it is too much, too complicated. Well, I like a good mystery, even if it’s a little gruesome. Keeps the mind sharp, you know. Like doing a puzzle, but with people instead of pieces.
If you’re like me, and you enjoy a good thinker, then these films like The Bone Collector might be just what the doctor ordered. Just remember to lock your doors and keep the lights on. You never know what’s lurking out there in the dark. I hope you can find some good movies like the bone collector.
