Oh, you wanna talk about them moving pictures, huh? Like that one, what was it called? Dallas Buyers Club? Yeah, that one. Sad one, that was. Got me thinking about other films, you know, kinda like it. Makes you think about life, and how hard it can be for some folks. And how fast things can change. One day you’re fine and dandy, next you’re…well, you seen the film.
So, you’re lookin’ for films like Dallas Buyers Club, eh? Well, there’s a whole heap of ’em out there. More’n you can shake a stick at. I seen a bunch, and heard tell of others. Some are real tearjerkers, some make you mad as a wet hen, and some just make you sit there and think for a good long while. This old brain ain’t what it used to be, but I’ll tell ya what I remember.
There’s one about that fella, all them smarts he had, but his body all messed up. Hawkins, I think his name was. Smart as a whip, but couldn’t hardly move. That one’s a real thinker. Showed how tough things can be when your body don’t work right. Reminds me a bit of that Dallas Buyers Club movie, where that fella got sick and all. They both had to fight, you know? Fight to live, fight to be heard. Just like that Ron Woodroof in the movie, tryin’ to get his medicine.
And then there was that other one, ’bout a bunch of fellas in a prison. Locked up tight, treated worse than dogs. Made me so mad, I wanted to go down there myself and give them guards a piece of my mind! It is a movie like Dallas Buyers Club, but it’s about bein’ trapped, and about how folks can be so mean to each other. But it also shows how folks can stick together, even when things are real bad.
Here’s a little list of some that come to mind, kinda like that Dallas Buyers Club one:
- One about a boxer fella. He got beat up real bad, but he kept on fightin’. Tough as nails, that one.
- Another one about a sick woman, all alone. Had to fend for herself, just like that fella in Dallas Buyers Club.
- One ’bout a man wrongly accused, had to fight to prove he was innocent. Kept me on the edge of my seat, that one did.
- There was one, about this black lady, she’s a singer. Real famous. But she had a tough life, lots of trouble. That’s another good film like Dallas Buyers Club, they all got something to overcome.
- Then there’s one ’bout this kid, real sick. His mama, she did everything for him. Another sad one, but shows you how strong a mama’s love can be.
You see, there’s all sorts of movies like Dallas Buyers Club. They all got somethin’ in common. They’re about people, real people, facin’ real problems. Problems that make you think, problems that make you feel. They might be sick, they might be poor, they might be treated unfair, but they all got that fire in ’em. That fire to keep goin’, to keep fightin’, to keep livin’. Just like that Ron Woodroof did. He was a fighter, that one. Didn’t give up, even when everyone else did.
These kinda films, they stick with you, you know? They make you appreciate what you got. Make you think about how lucky you are. Cause you never know when life’s gonna throw you a curveball. One minute you’re up, next minute you’re down. Just gotta keep your chin up and keep on truckin’, I reckon. Just like they did in that Dallas Buyers Club.
There’s a whole bunch of ways to find these moving pictures now. The young folks, they got all these fancy doohickeys, these… internets and what not. They can find anything on them things. Me, I just remember what I seen and what folks tell me about. There are many films like Dallas Buyers Club out there. My memory ain’t so good no more, but if you want a good cry, or a good think, any of those I mentioned will do ya.
It’s important to remember that everyone’s got their own struggles. Might not be the same as that fella in the movie, but they’re still real. We all gotta help each other out, you know? Be kind, be understanding. That’s what I always say. And if you see a good movie, well, tell your old granny about it! I might not be able to go to them picture shows no more, but I still like a good story.
If you just want to watch some moving pictures and relax, then those movies like Dallas Buyers Club are not good choice. But if you want to know some people’s hard life, and how they never give up, go watch them.
