Alright, alright, let’s talk about them movies, the ones like “Kill the Irishman.” You know, the kind with all the tough guys and the shooting and the… well, you know. Not that I watch too many of them, mind you. Too much for my old heart, all that bang-bang stuff. But sometimes, you just gotta see what the fuss is about, right?
So, if you liked that “Kill the Irishman,” maybe you’d like some others, the ones that are kinda the same. I heard tell of this movie called “Black Mass”. Johnny Depp, that pretty boy, he plays this bad fella, a real gangster from Boston. It’s all about him and the FBI and the Irish mob. Sounds like a whole heap of trouble to me.
- “Black Mass”: That Johnny Depp fella plays a real bad guy, a gangster. Lots of trouble with the police and other bad guys.
- “Boardwalk Empire”: This ain’t a movie, it’s a show, like on TV. But it’s the same kind of story. Back in the old days, when they weren’t supposed to drink, but everyone did anyway. And the fellas who made sure everyone got their booze, they were tough cookies.
Then there’s all these true crime movies. Lordy, there’s a lot of ‘em. Movies about real bad things that happened, real killers and crooks. Some of ‘em are scary, real scary. They say some are about serial killers, the ones who just keep killing and killing. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it. And then there’s the ones about liars and cheats, folks who steal your money and run off. Can’t trust nobody these days, that’s for sure.
And speaking of true crime, I heard tell of some movies that tell stories of real crimes, like “Lost Girls” and “Spotlight” and “Room”. They say these movies show you what really happened, the bad things and the sad things. Makes you think, it does. Makes you think about the world and the people in it.
Netflix, you know, that thing where you watch movies on the TV? They got a whole bunch of movies about this stuff too. Real stories, documentaries they call ‘em. About all sorts of things, the good and the bad. Guess there’s plenty of bad to go around, huh? Enough to make a whole lotta movies, that’s for sure.
Some of these movies, they try to show you why people do bad things. Like maybe they had a bad life themselves, and that made them mean. Or maybe they just got a screw loose, you know? Like that movie “Monster,” they say it shows how being hurt can make you hurt others. And then there’s others that just show you the bad, plain and simple. Like “Citizen X,” I heard tell.
Now, that “Kill the Irishman” movie, some folks didn’t like it, said it wasn’t no good. But I say, it had some good parts. It showed you that tough guy, the one who fought for what he believed in, even if it wasn’t always right. And it showed you the world he lived in, a tough world where you had to be strong to survive. That’s what I liked about it, anyway.
And folks say there’s plenty of other movies like that. Goodfellas and Casino, they say, are like it. About gangsters and tough guys and all that. And another one, “Once Upon a Time in America.” That one’s long, real long, but they say it’s good. All about the same kinda stuff, fellas getting into trouble, making money the wrong way, and paying the price. Sounds like a whole lotta heartache to me, but some folks like that kinda thing.
So, if you’re looking for movies like “Kill the Irishman,” there’s plenty to choose from. Just gotta decide if you want the real stuff, the true crime, or the made-up stuff, the gangster stories. Either way, you’re gonna see a whole lotta fighting and shooting and probably some cussing too. Like I said, too much for my old heart, but you young folks, you go ahead and enjoy it. Just don’t go getting any ideas, you hear?
And remember, these movies, they’re just stories. Real life ain’t always like that, thank the Lord. Most folks are good, they just tryin’ to get by. But it’s interesting to see how the other half lives, even if it’s just on the TV screen. Keeps you on your toes, it does. Reminds you to be grateful for what you got, and to stay out of trouble. That’s the most important thing, staying out of trouble.
