Alright, alright, settle down now, y’all. Let’s talk about them movies, like that one with the trucks goin’ crazy, Maximum Overdrive, yeah, that’s the one. You know, the one where all the machines start actin’ up somethin’ fierce.
Now, I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, but I know what I like. And I like them movies where things get outta control, like them machines did. It’s like, one minute they’re doin’ what they’re supposed to, and the next, BAM! They’re tryin’ to kill ya. That kinda stuff gets your blood pumpin’, ya know?
So, if you liked Maximum Overdrive, you probably like them other movies where stuff goes haywire too. There’s this fella, Stephen King, he wrote that truck movie. Seems like he likes writin’ about scary stuff, ‘cause he done wrote a bunch more movies and books like it. Someone even asked him about it, from what I hear.
- Like, there’s this other movie about a car, a real mean one called Christine. It ain’t just any car, it’s got a mind of its own, and it ain’t friendly. Kinda like them trucks, but just one car, and it’s a real looker, but deadly. First Christine then Maximum Overdrive, that Stephen King really likes them killer cars, I tell ya.
- And then there’s movies with them robots, like that Terminator fella. He’s a real piece of work, strong as an ox and don’t stop for nothin’. That movie, it gave us a whole bunch of movies about machines gone bad, real technophobe movies they call ‘em. Not that I know what a “technophobe” is, but I get the gist of it.
There’s a whole bunch of movies like this, more than you can shake a stick at, they say. I heard there’s even websites where folks talk about these movies and rate ‘em. They even make lists and write reviews. Some websites, they let you vote and stuff, and then they tell you what other movies you might like. I ain’t got no use for that fancy stuff, but some folks do, I guess.
One website, they say there’s like, 79 movies kinda like Maximum Overdrive. Seventy-nine! That’s a whole lotta machines goin’ crazy. They got this movie data from somewhere, I don’t know where, some place with a funny name, starts with a T, I think. And they even got folks in New Zealand makin’ these lists. New Zealand! That’s way over yonder, across the ocean.
I remember back in the 90s, there was another one of them Stephen King movies. I can’t rightly recall the name, but it was about machines too. It was based on a short story, just like that truck movie. I reckon I’ll have to look it up sometime. That Stephen King, he sure does think up some wild stuff.
Anyway, these movies, they ain’t just about scarin’ ya. They make ya think too. Like, what if all them machines we depend on, what if they turned on us? What would we do then? Makes ya think twice about relyin’ on them gadgets so much, don’t it?
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good scare, or just somethin’ to get your mind racin’, go find yourself one of these movies. They’re a thrill, that’s for sure. And if you liked Maximum Overdrive, well, you got a whole heap of other movies to choose from. Just don’t blame me if you start lookin’ at your toaster oven a little differently.
There’s something thrilling and exciting, different even, about these movies. You just never know what them machines are gonna do next. And that’s what makes it so darn interestin’. You got your cars, your trucks, your robots, all kinds of machines, just tearin’ stuff up. It’s a real spectacle, I tell ya.
So go on, find yourself a movie like Maximum Overdrive. Pop some popcorn, turn down the lights, and get ready for a wild ride. And if you hear your lawnmower start up in the middle of the night, well, don’t say I didn’t warn ya.
Just remember, it’s all just for fun. Don’t go gettin’ any ideas about smashin’ up your own stuff. Movies are movies, and real life is real life. But sometimes, it’s fun to think about what if, ain’t it?
So there you have it, my thoughts on them movies like Maximum Overdrive. Nothin’ fancy, just plain talk from an old woman. But I reckon that’s all you need sometimes.
