Alright, alright, listen up ya’ll. We gonna talk about them movies, the ones like that “Pretty Woman” picture, you know, the one with the gal and the rich fella. I seen it on the TV once, kinda liked it, so I figured maybe there’s more like it out there. So I asked around, and the young’uns, they told me some names, and I looked ’em up on that internet thingy. Don’t ask me how it works, it just does, like magic I tell ya.
So, first off, they said if you like “Pretty Woman,” you might wanna watch somethin’ called “My Fair Lady.” Now, this one’s a real oldie, even older than me I reckon. It’s about this flower girl, see, poor as dirt, and this professor guy, he bets he can turn her into a lady, like a real fancy one. Kinda sounds familiar, huh? They say it’s got songs and all, real pretty-like. I ain’t seen it myself, but the young’uns say it’s good, real good. If you are looking for films similar to pretty woman, this one is a top choice they said.
- “My Fair Lady” – Professor bets he can turn a flower girl into a lady.
Then there’s this other one, “27 Dresses.” This one’s about a gal who’s always a bridesmaid, never a bride, you know what I mean? She’s been in a whole heap of weddings, got a closet full of them ugly dresses to prove it. But then, she meets this fella, and things get complicated, like they always do in them movies. Sounds kinda funny, maybe a little sad too. But hey, that’s life, ain’t it? Ups and downs, just like a rollercoaster, that’s what my old man used to say. This movie will definetely give you some romance feels.
Another one they told me about is called “The Proposal.” This one’s got that Sandra Bullock in it, the gal from “Speed,” you remember that one? Fast cars and whatnot. Anyway, in this one, she’s a big boss lady, real tough, and she needs to get married to stay in the country. So she makes her assistant, this young fella, pretend to be her fiancé. You can guess what happens next, right? They fall in love, or somethin’ like that. It’s a romantic comedy they say. Folks seem to like them rom coms, always have, always will.
- “27 Dresses” – Gal is always a bridesmaid, never a bride, then meets a fella.
- “The Proposal” – Big boss lady pretends to marry her assistant to stay in the country.
Now, they also mentioned somethin’ called “While You Were Sleeping.” Another Sandra Bullock movie! She’s a real popular gal, that one. This time, she saves this fella from gettin’ hit by a train, and then everyone thinks she’s his fiancée. He’s in a coma, so he can’t say nothin’. It’s a bit of a mess, but I guess it’s funny too. Sounds like one of them feel-good movies, the kind you watch when you want a good laugh and maybe a little cry. They used to show them at the picture show every Friday night when I was a young’un. Simpler times, they were.
And get this, there’s even a movie called “Maid in Manhattan.” See a pattern here? Always with the maids and the rich folks. This one’s got Jennifer Lopez in it, she’s another one them young’uns like. She plays a maid in a fancy hotel, and she pretends to be someone else to get with this rich fella. It’s the same story over and over, ain’t it? But hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, that’s what my pappy always said about his old tractor. So maybe it’s the same for these romantic movies. This is a classic example of films similar to pretty woman.
- “While You Were Sleeping” – Gal saves a fella and everyone thinks she’s his fiancée.
- “Maid in Manhattan” – Maid pretends to be someone else to get with a rich fella.
Then there’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” another one they brung up. This one’s about a gal who goes back to her small town to get a divorce from her husband so she can marry her fancy new fiancé. But then, she starts havin’ feelings for her old husband again. Sounds complicated, right? Love is always complicated, that’s for sure. I remember when I met my old man, it wasn’t no fairytale, let me tell ya. But we made it work, for a good long while anyway.
They also told me about “Notting Hill.” This one’s got that Hugh Grant fella in it, he’s always playin’ them charming fellas. He owns a bookstore and this famous movie star walks in and they fall in love. Can you believe it? A regular fella and a movie star. Only in the movies, I tell ya. But it’s nice to dream, ain’t it? Even an old woman like me likes to dream sometimes.
- “Sweet Home Alabama” – Gal goes back home to get a divorce but falls for her old husband again.
- “Notting Hill” – Bookstore owner falls in love with a famous movie star.
And finally, they said I should watch “Crazy Rich Asians.” This one’s about a gal who goes to Singapore to meet her boyfriend’s family, and they’re like, crazy rich. Like, richer than anything you can imagine. And they don’t like her much, so there’s all sorts of drama and whatnot. Sounds like a fancy soap opera, but the young’uns say it’s good. They say it’s got pretty clothes and pretty places, and I do like lookin’ at pretty things, always have. So yeah, for someone looking for films similar to pretty woman, these movies might be a good watch.
So there ya have it, a whole heap of movies like “Pretty Woman.” Maids and rich fellas, fake fiancés, small towns and big cities, it’s all there. Now, I ain’t seen all of these myself, mind you, but the young’uns say they’re good, and they know more about these things than I do, I reckon. So if you liked that “Pretty Woman” picture, maybe give some of these a try. You might just find somethin’ you like. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
- “Crazy Rich Asians” – Gal meets her boyfriend’s crazy rich family and they don’t like her.
