Alright, so you wanna know about movies like that River Wild, huh? I saw that one with my grandkids once. Scared the bejesus outta me, all that water and them crazy people! But, you know, it was kinda fun too, in a nail-bitin’ sort of way.
So, if you like that kinda thing, with folks gettin’ stuck out in the wild, fightin’ for their lives and whatnot, then listen up. I got a few for ya. Don’t expect no fancy talk, I’m just gonna tell it like it is.
First off, there’s this oldie called Deliverance. Now, that one’s even scarier than River Wild, I tell ya. It’s about some city slickers goin’ on a canoe trip, and things go real bad, real fast. Lots of screamin’ and hollerin’ and folks gettin’ hurt. It ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
You see, Deliverance, it’s got that same kinda creepy feelin’ as River Wild. You know, where you’re just sittin’ there, thinkin’, “Oh Lord, what’s gonna happen next?” That’s what makes it good, I guess. Keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Then there’s this new one, or maybe not so new now, it’s a remake you know, they’re always remakin’ things. It’s called River Wild too! But it’s got different people in it. I saw a bit of it on the TV the other day, and it looked pretty wild too. Same kinda deal, folks on a raft, bad guys show up, and then it’s all fight or die. I tell ya, some folks just can’t leave other folks alone, can they?
- Scary stuff: You want scary? Both Deliverance and the new River Wild got plenty of scary. Folks gettin’ chased, folks fightin’, folks drownin’… it’s a whole heap of trouble.
- Wild places: And both of ’em take place out in the middle of nowhere. You know, where there ain’t no cell phones or nothin’. Just trees and water and mean people. Makes you think twice about goin’ on a vacation, let me tell ya.
- Fighting for your life: The folks in these movies, they ain’t no superheroes or nothin’. They’re just regular folks tryin’ to survive. And that’s what makes it scary, see? ‘Cause you think, “That could be me out there!”
Now, I ain’t seen a whole lot of movies like these, to be honest. I mostly watch them Hallmark movies, you know, the ones with the happy endings. But these wild ones, they stick with ya. They make you think about what you’d do if you were in that situation. Would you be tough enough to fight back? Or would you just curl up in a ball and cry? I don’t know, and I hope I never have to find out!
I heard some folks talkin’ about the “atmosphere” of these movies. I ain’t sure what that means exactly, but I guess it’s that feelin’ you get when you’re watchin’ ’em. That creepy, tense feelin’ like somethin’ bad’s gonna happen. And that’s what makes them good, I reckon. They ain’t just pretty pictures, they get you right in the gut.
And you know, even though those movies are scary and all, they also make you appreciate what you got. You sit there watchin’ them folks fightin’ for their lives, and you think, “Well, at least I ain’t stuck on a raft with a bunch of crazies!” So, yeah, they’re scary, but they kinda make you feel grateful too. Grateful for a warm bed and a roof over your head, and no one chasin’ you through the woods.
So there you have it. A couple of movies like River Wild. If you like gettin’ scared, then go ahead and watch ’em. But don’t say I didn’t warn ya! They’re wild, they’re intense, and they’ll make you think twice before you go jumpin’ in a river with strangers. That’s all I gotta say about that. You young folks and your crazy movies!
