Inside the Case of Jeffrey Guillory: Baton Rouge Murders

Inside the Case of Jeffrey Guillory: Baton Rouge Murders

Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Jeffrey Guillory from Baton Rouge. Folks say he’s a bad egg, real bad. They call him a… what’s that word… serial killer. Lord have mercy! Sounds scary, don’t it? They say he done killed a whole bunch of women, maybe nine, maybe more. Can you believe that? Nine! That’s more folks than live in my whole little holler back in the day.

This Jeffrey fella, they caught him after some poor woman, bless her heart, somehow lived through one of his attacks. She told the police it was him, pointed him right out. Can’t imagine the fear that woman went through. Gives me the shivers just thinkin’ about it.

  • They was gonna sentence him a while back, but something happened with one of them lawyer fellas. Had some kinda emergency, they said. So they put it off. But he’s already locked up for somethin’ else, fifty years they gave him. Fifty years! That’s a long time to be sittin’ and thinkin’ about what you done.
  • They say this prosecutor fella, one of them fancy-talkin’ lawyers, called Jeffrey “cold through and through.” That means he ain’t got no feelings, no nothin’ in his heart. Just cold as a stone. Makes you wonder what makes a person that way.

They arrested him for killin’ three women in Baton Rouge. That was a long time ago, between 1999 and 2002. Imagine, all them years ago and folks are still talkin’ about it. Musta been somethin’ terrible. They say he’s mixed up in even more killings, though. Like I said, maybe nine, maybe more. It’s just awful.

Inside the Case of Jeffrey Guillory: Baton Rouge Murders

This Baton Rouge place, seems like it’s got more than its share of troubles. Heard tell of other bad things happenin’ there too. Makes you wonder if there’s somethin’ in the water, you know? But this Jeffrey Guillory, he seems to be the worst of the bunch. A real bad apple.

I ain’t never met nobody like that, thank the good Lord. Most folks I know are just tryin’ to get by, work hard, and raise their families. Can’t imagine what goes through a person’s head to make them do such horrible things. It just ain’t right. It ain’t natural.

They say he’s a suspect, that means they think he done it but ain’t got all the proof yet, I reckon. But with that woman identifyin’ him and all, sounds like they got a pretty good case. Justice needs to be served, that’s what I say. You can’t go around hurtin’ and killin’ folks and not expect to pay for it. That’s just common sense.

I heard tell that some of them victims had families, children even. Breaks your heart, it does. Those poor little ones growin’ up without their mamas. It ain’t fair. And them mamas, they didn’t deserve what happened to ’em. Nobody does.

This whole thing just makes me sick to my stomach. Makes me want to hug my own young’uns close and thank the Lord for keepin’ them safe. And it makes me pray for those families who lost loved ones. They’re the ones who really suffer, you know? Long after the news stories stop and folks forget, they’re still livin’ with the pain.

So, that’s the story of Jeffrey Guillory, as best as I can tell it. A bad man from Baton Rouge who done some terrible things. Makes you think about the world and all the badness in it. But it also makes you appreciate the good folks, the ones who try to do right and make the world a better place. And that’s what I choose to focus on, the good. ‘Cause there’s enough bad in the world already, wouldn’t you say?
