- Trade (T): Wanna swap your old lawnmower for a good fishin’ rod? This is the place to do it.
- Giveaway (GA): Just wanna get rid of somethin’? Give it away! Someone might find a use for it.
- Best Offer (BO): Not sure what somethin’s worth? Let folks make you an offer.
- Pickup (PU): This just means you gotta go pick it up yourself, they ain’t deliverin’.
Now, they also got this Facebook group, I hear. Same kinda deal, but you can post pictures and write stuff down instead of just talkin’ on the radio. There’s a whole mess of folks in there, over 500 last I heard. They post all sorts of things, from clothes to tools to furniture. Even jobs sometimes! Like that Sherwin Williams place, they was lookin’ for folks.
And it ain’t just the Swap Shop on the radio or Facebook neither. Seems like Sheridan’s got all sorts of things goin’ on. They got bingo at the VFW every Tuesday night. And they got community calendars and ways to promote your events too. Sheridan Media, they’re right in the middle of it all, it seems like.
Why is the Swap Shop a good thing?
Well, it’s good for folks who don’t wanna spend a whole lot of money. You can find some real bargains if you know what you’re lookin’ for. And it’s good for folks who got too much stuff clutterin’ up their houses. Get rid of the junk, make a little money, and maybe even find somethin’ you need in the process.
It’s also good for the community, ya know? Brings folks together, helps them connect. You get to know your neighbors a little better, find out who’s got what. It’s like the old days, before everyone just went to them big stores for everything.
