Alright, listen up, y’all. You liked that there Wonder Years show, huh? That little fella Kevin and his family? Yeah, I watched it some too, back in the day. Nothin’ but good, clean fun, even if I didn’t always get what them city folks were goin’ on about. Anyways, you’re lookin’ for more shows like that? Ones that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, maybe make you think back on your own young’uns growin’ up? Well, I got you covered. I heard tell of some shows that might just tickle your fancy.
First off, there’s this show, see, it’s called… somethin’ or other… oh yeah, Freaks and Geeks. Now, I ain’t seen it myself, but my niece, the one with the fancy city job, she says it’s right up your alley if you like The Wonder Years. It’s about them teenagers in the 80s, all awkward and goofy, tryin’ to figure out who they are. Sounds familiar, don’t it? Just like them Arnolds, but with bigger hair and weirder music, I reckon.
Then there’s this other one, Everybody Hates Chris. Now, this one I did catch a bit of when it was on. It’s about this young fella, Chris, growin’ up in Brooklyn. He’s got a big family, a strict mama, and a whole lotta trouble he gets into. It’s funny, mind you, but it’s got heart too, just like The Wonder Years. You see Chris learnin’ lessons and growin’ up, just like little Kevin Arnold. Only, Chris is a bit sassier, if you ask me.
- And if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a bit more recent, there’s this show called The Goldbergs.
- They say it’s set in the 80s too, and it’s all about this family, the Goldbergs.
- They’re loud, they’re crazy, and they love each other somethin’ fierce.
It’s got that same feel-good vibe as The Wonder Years, that whole “family is everything” thing. Plus, they got some of them big ol’ video cameras, just like Kevin used to film his life. Reminds me of them old home movies my Harold used to make.
Now, they also made a new Wonder Years show, but this time it’s about a Black family in the 60s. I heard it was good, but it got canceled, which is a shame. Folks liked it, but I guess not enough. Sometimes, these TV folks, they just don’t know what they’re doin’, bless their hearts.
And let’s not forget the original Wonder Years itself. It’s still a good show, even if it’s old as dirt now. I heard they even changed the ending a bit, so if you didn’t like how it ended before, maybe give it another shot. That little Kevin Arnold, he sure did grow up fast, didn’t he? Makes you think about your own young’uns, and how time just flies by like a blink of an eye.
So, there you have it. A few shows that might just fill that Wonder Years shaped hole in your heart. Whether you want somethin’ old, somethin’ new, somethin’ funny, or somethin’ heartwarming, there’s somethin’ out there for ya. Just remember to grab a comfy blanket, a big bowl of popcorn, and maybe a glass of sweet tea, and settle in for a good night of TV. And don’t forget to call your mama every now and then, ya hear? She misses you.
And remember the original show got canceled cause folks weren’t watching enough and probably they ran out of money to make it. They filmed the last episode before they knew it was the last so they had to add some extra talking at the end to explain what happened to everyone. That’s what I heard anyway.
