Well now, if you’re lookin’ for movies like The Nativity Story, ones that really touch your heart ’bout the meaning of Christmas, there’s a few that’ll bring a tear to your eye, just like that story of the birth of baby Jesus. Now, let me tell ya, there’s a bunch of these movies out there, some older ones, some newer ones, all showin’ that special time of the year when we remember the true reason for Christmas.
It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) – Now this one’s a classic, ain’t it? You got George Bailey, a fella who’s down on his luck, but through it all, he learns just how important he really is to the folks around him. It don’t have the same story as the nativity, but it sure does remind you of what Christmas is about, helpin’ others and bein’ grateful for what you’ve got. It’s a heartwarmin’ tale that’ll have you feelin’ all kinds of ways by the end.
A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) – Now don’t go overlookin’ this one, especially if you got little ones runnin’ around. It’s short, sweet, and full of lessons, just like the simple Christmas story. Poor Charlie Brown, he’s out here tryin’ to find the true meaning of Christmas, and he sure gets a wake-up call when he does. Real nice movie for showin’ the importance of family and faith.
The Star (2017) – This one’s got a whole different spin. It’s animated, sure, but it tells the story of the nativity from the perspective of the animals. I know, sounds funny, don’t it? But it’s actually quite good for all ages. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you might just learn somethin’ new about that first Christmas night, all while watchin’ these lovable animals go on their journey to Bethlehem.
The Miracle on 34th Street (1947) – Now, I know you might be thinkin’ this one’s all ’bout Santa Claus, but hear me out. It’s really about the spirit of Christmas, and the belief in somethin’ greater than ourselves. This here story reminds you that faith and hope, even in the most unlikely of places, is what makes Christmas so special. It might not be a nativity story, but it’s got that same warmth and joy spreadin’ all through it.
The Christmas Chronicles (2018) – A newer one, I’ll admit. Now this one’s a bit more modern and fast-paced, but it’s got its heart in the right place. It’s all about two kids who end up helpin’ Santa Claus save Christmas. It’s got a bit of action and a lot of laughs, but at its core, it’s really all about the magic of Christmas and the importance of bein’ together, just like the nativity story teaches us.
Little Drummer Boy (1968) – This one’s another older one, but boy, it’s a gem. It’s all about a little boy who’s got nothin’ to give, but his drumming skills. He plays for baby Jesus, and through that, he learns about love and the true meaning of Christmas. It’s a simple story, but it gets right to the heart of the season.
The Preacher’s Wife (1996) – This one’s a bit different, but it’s still about the spirit of Christmas and love. A preacher is given an angel to help him save his church and his family. It’s got all the feel-good moments you could ask for, and like The Nativity Story, it’s got that good ol’ message of hope and faith through tough times.
So, if you’re lookin’ for something to watch around Christmas time that gives ya that same feelin’ as The Nativity Story, any of these movies will do just fine. They’ll help remind ya of the importance of faith, family, and rememberin’ the true reason for the season, just like that precious night in Bethlehem.
